Item Summary

The attached document reflects the “Unofficial Final Results” of the City of Prescott Primary Election held on August 29, 2017, provided by Yavapai County, which conducted the election on behalf of the City. The results become final and official upon the Council action recommended herein.

Background

The City of Prescott held its vote-by-mail Primary Election on August 29, 2017. The ballot included the two-year term Mayor seat, three four-year term Council seats, and two Ballot Questions. Out of the 29,156 registered voters in the City, 17,227 ballots were cast, providing a 59.09% voter turnout.

Based on the results of the election, Proposition 442 and Proposition 443 passed.  No one received the majority of votes for Mayor, nor for Council.  Therefore, a General Election will take place on November 7, 2017 to fill the seat of Mayor and the three Council seats.  Greg Mengarelli and Jean Wilcox will be on the ballot for Mayor.   Steve Blair, Connie Cantelme, Phil Goode, Gregory Lazzell, Alexa Scholl, and Joe Viccica will be on the ballot for three council seats.

Financial Impact

The cost of the 2017 Primary Election was $98,472.00 which included printing and mailing the Publicity Pamphlet.
