Body

Item Summary

This item is for approval to enter into an Agreement with Galfab, LLC under a City of Mesa Cooperative Purchasing Agreement (2019155) to purchase front load refuse containers and roll-off containers, in an amount not to exceed $50,000

Background

The Solid Waste Division provides commercial refuse and recycling collection services throughout the City and offers a variety of dumpster and roll-off container sizes to meet customer needs. Container inventory is extremely low with no containers having been purchased since 2003. Demand for commercial services has increased, resulting in a need to purchase new front load and roll-off containers.  The Cooperative Purchasing Agreement permits its use by other governmental agencies including the City of Prescott. The purchase of new containers will allow Solid Waste to meet the demand of local businesses and organizations using City services.

The City is permitted, pursuant to Section 1-27-9(C) of the City Code, to purchase services under another publicly bid Contract, at its discretion and with the agreement of the awarded Vendor.  The original Contract must permit the cooperative use by other public entities, and be in accordance with Section 1-27-11 of the City Code.

This contract will utilize the cost competitive procurement process completed by City of Mesa.  The City of Mesa entered into Contract No. 2019155 with Galfab, LLC, dated June 3, 2019 ending on June 2, 2020

Financial Impact

Funding for this contract is budgeted in the FY20 Solid Waste Fund.
